Pet trainers in Free Realms share special bonds with their pets. With time and training, you can have the benefits of a well-trained pet that will help you in your travels in Free Realms.
What is a Pet Trainer?
Available for all players, the pet trainer job in Free Realms teaches pets special tricks to perform. Pet trainers level freely as they train their pets tricks and complete special pet trainer quests.
Pet tricks are taught by a small mini-game, in which you trace the shape on the screen as accurately as possible. The harder the trick, the harder it is to trace the shape. Each time you successfully trace a shape, your pet will gain experience in the trick, and you'll gain experience as a pet trainer.
Why be a Pet Trainer?
If you love animals, especially dogs and cats, the pet trainer job is a great job for you to learn in Free Realms. Because you can own multiple pets in Free Realms, being a pet trainer will allow you to teach all your pets the coolest tricks.
Pets in Free Realms also serve another purpose though: besides being able to perform tricks, pets will alert you when you approach special items like ore for mining, rare collection pieces, or NPCs for quests. Pets can also find and dig up special treasures - treasures you won't find any other way!
The ultimate reason to be a pet trainer though is for a speed boost: if you complete all the pet trainer quests, and keep your pet at least 90% happy, you'll get a speed boost to help you zip through the world of Free Realms!
Getting Started: Choosing a Pet

The one thing every pet trainer in Free Realms needs is a pet. There are two options for pets, dogs or cats, and there are different personalities to choose from as well - currently, there are over 45 possibilities across the world! Some pets are members-only, meaning you need to have a paid subscription to own and use the pets.
All pets in Free Realms cost Station Cash (SC). Station Cash is a special currency used in Free Realms that can only be bought with real cash - so if you want a permanent pet in Free Realms, you're going to have to spend at least $5, the minimum amount of SC that can be purchased on Sony Online's website. The cheapest non-member pet is only 250 SC, though, so you can afford two pets, or a pet and other purchased items, with that $5.
All is not lost if you want to be a pet trainer and don't yet have the money to purchase a pet: all pets have an option for a 20 minute trial. That 20 minute trial will allow you to level your pet trainer up, since you can teach your trial pet tricks, and will let you have a pet for up to 20 minutes of a speed boost at a time. However, you can only borrow a pet once every two hours. Ultimately, if you want the benefits of the pet trainer class, you will need to purchase a permanent pet.
