A Guide to Magical Salvaging in Warhammer Online

When you start playing Warhammer Online, one the first things you what to do is improve your stats. There are many ways to do this, but one of them that will let you take power from amulets and other items. Before you start salvaging, there are certain requirements you need that we are going to cover below. First though, it is important to note that there is one disadvantage when you are salvaging – the item you salvage will be lost in the process, but the power of the item will be sent to you.

You can magically salvage almost anything, except for accessories that you can’t equip and trophies. But how do you start salvaging? If you don’t have any friends that can send you their unwanted items, you can go and buy the items you want to use in the process.

However, there is a third option. If you are exploring the world map and if you encounter a beast that you manage to defeat it, you probably will see that some random beasts in the game have talismans. There are two things you can do when you defeat the beast. The first one is to retrieve the talisman and save it. The second one is to initiate the salvage process. When the process is started, your character will acquire the properties of the item. Let's say the talisman has stamina (just to put a random example). Then, your character will have his stamina increased but the item will disappear. Don’t worry, most of those talismans are useless unless you execute the salvaging to use their power.

Now we are going to explain the process, step by step, of how to salvage.

Before we start, take a look at the images found on the bottom of the page. These images are numbered , each one showing a step of the process. Each of these numbers corresponds to a step that we'll be explaining below.

The first step you need to take is to search for a trainer if you are going to purchase a skill. As soon as you purchase the skill you probably are going to wonder, "How do I make it work?" To find out, go to the ability options and take a look at the first image shown below. This is the ability option and your skills are going to be taken from here, but you can place on the action bar to find your skill easier. Now open your backpack, select and search for the item you are going to use in the salvage. (See the second image below.)

The salvaging we are doing is with the worked witchstaff. When you are ready, select the item and a new window will be open with different options. Just pick the one you like the most or the one you think will be better to your needs (third image below).

It should be known that salvage is one process that is still in beta stages. Even if the game has been on the market for a while, MMOs are constantly in development. At least, the good ones are.

Now take a look at the first image in the gallery below. It shows the status meter of Magical Salvaging, and it will tell you if the salvaging worked or not. Don’t be impatient since there is a 36% chance it will not work, but that doesn’t mean you can’t try it again. Remember to use more crystals if you want your salvaging to improve, and always have at least two empty slots in your inventory before attempting the salvage.

For last step, see the final screenshot below. This image will show how your salvage developed. The key is the change in the upper status and in the menu where the slots are open. It was said previously that some items can take multiple options, but sometimes an item will show only one. Remember to use it in your favor because any option that is shown is an option that will help you in winning the objectives of the game.

Magical Salvaging is indeed a great technique. It can produce essences within certain items, but to refine essences remember to use merchants who have ruined items that will help you to improve and go up some levels with your salvage. Beside these tips, I don’t have anything else to offer; just remember to experiment with salvaging to see what you can obtain as the possibilities can be endless.
