Runescape Runecrafting Skill Part Four: Combination Runes

One of the newest tricks in runescape’s runecrafting skill is the ability to make combination runes. These runes are only made from elemental runes (air, water, fire, and earth) and it combines two runes into one. The new rune will count as two different elements. Wearing a necklace of binding will up your ability so that you have a 100% success rate when you go to combine runes.

There are only six combinations that you can make: Mist Runes (from air and water), Mud Runes (from water and earth), Dust Runes (from air and earth), Smoke Runes (from air and fire), Lava Runes (from earth and fire), and Steam Runes (from water and fire). To make a combined rune you will need the two talismans (one of each of the ones needed to make it), a rune (can be either one of the two types of elements), and the rune essence. You will need to go to the altar of the element that you DIDN’T choose for the rune.

• Mist Rune – You need an air talisman, a water talisman, rune essence, and either an air or water rune. Go to an air or water altar to create (whichever one you didn’t choose for the rune). This needs a runecrafting level of 6 to make and will give you 7.5 experience.
• Mud Rune – You need a water talisman, an earth talisman, rune essence, and either a water or earth rune. Go to a water or earth altar to create (the opposite of the rune you chose). This needs a runecrafting skill level of 13 to make and will get you 8.5 experience.
• Dust Rune – You need an air talisman, an earth talisman, rune essence, and either an air or earth rune. Go to an air or earth altar to create (whichever one that wasn’t the chosen one earlier) It requires a runecrafting skill of 10 to make and will give you 8 experience.
• Lava Rune – You will need an earth talisman, a fire talisman, rune essence, and either an earth or fire rune. You will go to the earth or fire altar to make (the one that you didn’t choose for the rune will be the altar you need to be at). This needs a runecrafting skill level of 23 and it gives 10 experience.
• Steam Rune – You need a water talisman, a fire talisman, rune essence, and either a fire or a water rune. You can go to either a water or fire altar to create (the opposite to the rune you chose). These need a skill level of 19 to make and gives 9.5 in experience.
• Smoke Rune – You need an air talisman, a fire talisman, rune essence, and either an air or fire rune. You will go to a fire or air altar to make (the one that wasn’t the rune you got). You will need a 15 in runecrafting skill level and it gives 9 experience to create.
