Firemaking is one of the first skills you are taught as a new player in Runescape. It is an easy skill to begin once you have what you need. Simply have a hatchet, a tinderbox, and some logs. The hatchet can be of any quality and you’ll need to chop down the trees to make logs. Logs will be needed so that you have something to set on fire. The tinderbox is what you’ll use to set the logs aflame. Three simple steps to fire, you see.

Making Your Fire

You can make a fire in three ways in the beginning. You can use a tinderbox and have some logs in your back pack to do a fire, you can drop the logs and then click to use a tinderbox on them to light, or you can click on the “light fire” option if you see logs lying on the ground already. You will then keep attempting to light the fire until a spark catches and the fire is lit. This will raise your experience every time you light a successful fire.

Logs for Firemaking

Depending on your skill level in Firemaking, there are different logs that you will be able to light on fire. These will give you an ever increasing amount of experience as well. Some logs are harder to find than others. Logs that you can use in firemaking, their level needed, and the amounts of experience given are as follows:

  • Regular Logs – Require a level of Firemaking 1 and gives 40 experience.
  • Oak Logs – Require a level of Firemaking 15 and gives 60 experience.
  • Willow Logs – Require a level of Firemaking 30 and gives 90 experience.
  • Teak Logs – Require a level of Firemaking 35 and gives 105 experience.
  • Maple Logs – Requires a level of Firemaking 45 and gives 135 experience.
  • Eucalyptus Logs – Requires a level of Firemaking 58 and gives 193.5 experience.
  • Yew Logs – Requires a level of Firemaking 60 and gives 202.5 experience.
  • Magic Logs – Requires a level of Firemaking 75 and gives 303.75 experience.

Barbarian Firemaking

When you’ve reached a level of 35 in firemaking you will have the option to go see Otto Godblessed, sw of Barbarian Outpost. He will teach you how to light a fire with a bow instead of with a tinderbox. Barabarian firemaking has a little bit different requirements than the old fashioned way of lighting of fire and those requirements are as follows:

  • Regular Logs – Require a level of Firemaking 21 and gives 40 experience.
  • Oak Logs – Require a level of Firemaking 35 and gives 60 experience.
  • Willow Logs – Require a level of Firemaking 50 and gives 90 experience.
  • Teak Logs – Require a level of Firemaking 55 and gives 105 experience.
  • Maple Logs – Requires a level of Firemaking 65 and gives 135 experience.
  • Eucalyptus Logs – Requires a level of Firemaking 68 and gives 193.5 experience.
  • Yew Logs – Requires a level of Firemaking 80 and gives 202.5 experience.
  • Magic Logs – Requires a level of Firemaking 95 and gives 303.75 experience.

Overview

There are a few things that you are going to be able to light like candles and lanterns and other things, once you’ve trained lighting fires via tinderboxes and barbarian bow, you’ll be well equipped to be able to light paths and keep yourself on top of your fire abilities. Good luck on skilling up Firemaking while you are in Runescape.
