AC/DC Live: Rock Band Track Pack lets you play AC/DC’s popular songs performed live at Donington Park. While there’s nothing impressive about the gameplay, this standalone title is best known for exclusive AC/DC songs.

Why Rock Band Track Packs Just Rock?
Rating Good

Inspired by Guitar Hero, Rock Band adds more colors to the rhythm game genre. With controller model designs borrowed from real-life drum kits, bass/lead guitars and a USB microphone, players can perform famous rock songs right in their own drawing room. The game focuses on the player’s ability to match the lead singer’s pitch as well as the scrolling musical notes while playing the controller models. Points are scored when players hit the right notes.

One of the coolest features of Rock Band is the supplemental discs called Rock Band Track Packs. These discs provide additional gameplay enjoyment and contain new songs that were not available with the original game disc. These are standalone titles that can be directly played in your consoles. There’s no need for any separate Rock Band title. You can also integrate songs from these track packs with other RC titles if your console supports DLCs. You can download all Rock Band Track Pack songs through a free online feature and add them in your existing Rock Band I and II playlists.

Gameplay
Rating Average

acdc box shotThere are several Rock Band Track Packs Metal, Classic Rock to Country and other popular titles. However, the AC/DC Live: Rock Band Track Pack is the only song pack to feature all the songs from one rock band. The track list includes 18 songs from the famous Live at Donington DVD. This standalone PS2 title is available exclusively at Wal-Mart for $29.88.

Die-hard fans of AC/DC will certainly play and enjoy all songs featured in this track pack, but unfortunately, there’s nothing interesting in the gameplay. You won’t be able to customize create your own characters or play online. In short, there are no gameplay elements of original Rock Band titles. However, playing classics such as “Back in the Black, “Highway to Hell” and other really compensates all the bland aspects of the AC/DC Live: Rock Band Track Pack.

Graphics and Sound
Rating Average

Although, AC/DC Live: Rock Band Track Pack features most of the songs from its Live at Donington Park DVD, players won’t have that ”Live” experience as the graphics does not feature the venue, nor any character models of Angus Young or Brian Johnson. All you have is the electrifying guitar riffs, drum beats and awesome AC/DC songs.

The audio quality is top-notch as usual. You will certainly relive the Live music experience by playing classic titles such as “Highway to Hell” and “Thunderstruck”. Another great addition is the export option. The game disc also lets you transfer all 18 songs to your original Rock Band titles.

Overall

Besides AC/DC’s awesome tracklist and the ability to export songs to your original Rock Band I and II career and multiplayer modes, there’s nothing quite interesting and unique about AC/DC Live: Rock Band Track Pack. Fans of AC/DC won’t miss this standalone game. But, for those who are looking for something different should look for free DLCs for their Rock Band.
