When it comes to knock-off Sims games, My Street was hoping to appeal to everyone, even kids. Yet, in the end, it's a game that is too forgetable and too dull.

My StreetRating Poor

my street boxActually, when I picked this game up, I'd never heard of it before and I've had my playstation 2 for a long time. So, I thought, hey, it's cheap, it's a Sims knock-off, and looks pretty cute. Figured that it would at least appeal to my kids in the end so that they'd lay off of me and stay out of my Sims games... and then in the end, none of us liked it and it seems that we aren't the only ones that think that Idol Minds struck out here. Here is my review of My Street for the Playstation 2.

Game PlayRating Poor

Let's see here, basically you are taking the Sims series for the playstation 2, dumbing it down, adding in some cartoonish graphics and sticking it out there like it's a game for everyone. In My Street, there is a massive collection of mini games that you can play (such as in GTA for the playstation 2), just like any party game. There are actually like seven different 4-player games where you are playing against the other gamers for different things.

One of the mini-games is like a game of marbles against the others. You can bump into the others and even knock them off the board, almost like the game of Sorry as a child's version on the playstation 2. There is a volleyball game that is more like a real game, but nothing like a hard-core console volleyball game. Then you come up to the Chemistry game, which is a puzzle game that drops different combinations of dots that will eventually align and fall off the board. (Feel like a game of Tetris anyone?) And, you of course have an RC racing game, which is boring too.

Oh, did I mention that this has a single player mode as well? Gee, that's probably because that part is so boring that I forgot to even play it too far. *Yawn* Not that I really played any of it too far...

GraphicsRating Poor

Well, the graphics are just ho-hum. As you can see from the screen shots below, they aren't even really as good as the majority of the kid's console games that are out now for the playstation 2. My kids actually made fun of the graphics on My Street. They made fun of the people, the boards, and the game overall, and laughed at the glitches and other problematic areas of the graphics.

OverallRating Poor

While I didn't pay much for My Street for my playstation 2, I'm regretting the money that I did spend, and the time I wasted playing it. I'm amazed that this one was even out there for anyone to play. I can't even see monkeys playing this one.
