Up, the Pixar film, came out about a month ago and with it came the release of the Xbox 360 game. In both the movie and game, the main character, Carl Fredricksen (an elderly but overly-energetic man), heads out on an adventure - alone. But, he soon finds out that he has company, in the form of a funny little kid with huge eyes named Russell. In the film, and game, the relationship between Carl and Russell become the key ingredient to both story lines, and is one that you'll have to work on in this great game to finish every level.

Well, as I just mentioned, the main characters in the game are Carl and Russell that you will steer through the game over different levels and platforms - most of the time, tethered to Carl's floating house. You will have to work together as the two main characters to get through the levels and areas, as this is the main point of the game.

This is the area of the game that adults and older kids won't like at all. The game play overall is really simple. Basically, your two main toons will be walking, running, jumping, pushing rocks, and climbing their way across the platform. When they do have to actually fight something, you can use Carl's hearing aid to drive the mobs off or you can use Russell's terrible bugle playing for the same thing. Sometimes, you'll come up against a dog that you'll have to block to get away from - but mainly, the combat and game play of Up get really old, really fast. Younger kids will enjoy this though as the game itself is really easy to learn and play.

The graphics of Up are really cute. If you liked the movie and you like Pixar films, then you'll like the graphics in Up the video game. Overall, the developers did a great job in making the video game version of Up look extremely similar to the movie and you won't ever have to wonder who is who. The terrain and other areas of the game are similiarly well done, and you'll easily be able to see the work that was done to create this great game. The colors are beautiful and bright and the details are still well defined, so younger kids will absolutely love this one.

While I would not recommend this as a game that an adult or older teenager would enjoy, it is a great game for younger gamers - especially since it helps to teach cooperation as working together is the main goal of the two main toons. So, if you have a younger gamer that you want to find a good, clean game for - Up is a nice one to try out.
Don't have an Xbox 360? Well, you'll be able to find this fun kid's console game on the PSP, DS, PS3, PS2, and even PC so that everyone will get a chance to enjoy this one.
