Looking for a portable gaming console that you can take anywhere with you? Well here are some of the top portable gaming consoles out right now - including some you might not know about. Let's look at the PSP Slim & Lite and the DSi together to see which tops the cake.

Portable Gaming Consoles

You can say "console game system" and many people know that you are talking about things like the Playstation, Wii, Xbox, and so on. But, when you say "portable gaming consoles", you might get a blank stare. So, let's first go through just what is a portable gaming console. According to Wikipedia, a portalbe gaming console is "a lightweight, portable device with a built-in screen, games, controls, and speakers". Now, this does encompass all of those lousy games that you can purchase at any store that only have one game on them. But, for this article, we're going to talk about the top portable gaming consoles that you can change out the games so you don't get bored so easily.

PSP Slim & Lite 3000Rating Excellent

PSP slim and litePretty much everyone has heard all the hype about the PSP, but have you heard about the PSP Slim & Lite 3000? This version is actually getting rave reviews for all it's functionality, both as a portable gaming console and as a multi media player. It has a great sized screen for anything you want to do with it, and it is thinner than the original PSP was, which also makes it lighter. But, there are downsides to this one as well, and the main complaint is that the controls are a bit awkward to learn and use. Overall though, this is one portable gaming system that you might want to check out.

DSi from NintentoRating Excellent

dsiEven though this one hasn't been out very long, it's gaining popularity everywhere. The newest DS from Nintendo, the DSi, is slimmer, and overall better, with a dual screen and two cameras. If you are into a portable gaming console for the multi media it offers, well, the DSi offers Wi-Fi browsing as well as tons of downloads for the console itself. You'll also find that the music software on this portable far exceeds others in it's class. Of couse, there are cons to the DSi thought, for example there is really no game compatibility here, so any other games that you could play on your old DS just don't work in right here.

In The End...

In the end, I personally prefer the DSi over the PSP Slim & Lite. Why? Well, just because of the screen placement and the music qualities. The sound is much better on the DSi than the PSP Slim & Lite, and for those that love their music - I'd go with the DSi as well.
