I was looking for a cheapskates way to get out of having to hurl $60.00 out of my wallet for a second SIXAXIS Playstation 3 controller. When I came across the PlayStation 3 Logitech Cordless Precision Controller for only $30.00, I figured I had to jump on it.

The PlayStation 3 Logitech Cordless Precision Controller

I wanted a second controller for my Playstation 3 so I could get a second player in on the action of Little Big Planet. Seeing that buying a second Sixaxis controller would run me as much money as a brand new game, I tried to be a little cheapskate hustler by looking into a third party controller by Logitech. The PlayStation 3 Logitech Cordless Precision Controller.

I have in the past had good experiences with Logitech equipment, so I assumed that I would be saving myself $30 by picking up their controller instead of a Sixaxis.

The controller itself looked nice when I initially picked it up off of the shelf. It had a matte finish to it, unlike the Sixaxis which has a high gloss finish to it. I liked the Logitech version better because I knew the controller was less likely to slip around in my hands while playing games.

The PlayStation 3 Logitech Cordless Precision Controller also appeared to be of better quality than the Sixaxis. It had a little more weight added to it and just seemed much more durable compared to the wireless Sixaxis which is pretty light and flimsy feeling.

It comes packaged with a USB stick that plugs into any available USB port located on the Playstation 3 console. The controller however still requires 2 AA batteries that get inserted into the back of the controller.

It seemed like a very decent controller for the price I paid.

Ah, but unfortunately my purchase was actually one I wish I never made.

Issue #1

The very first immediate issue I had with the PlayStation 3 Logitech Cordless Precision Controller was the fact that I did not know it came without the sensor tilt. The Sixaxis controller has sensor tilting that some games actually require! Little Big Planet was one of those games. It was pretty disappointing to learn immediately that the controller I bought for this particular game would not work with this particular game!

So for $30.00 more I could have bought another Sixaxis and spared myself the headache. Meanwhile I am thinking I'm doing good for myself, being the bargain shopper.
