The sequel to the highly controversial game, Killzone; Killzone 2 is a first-person shooter developed for the PS3. The sequel follows where Killzone and Killzone: Liberation left off. Originally the game was announced at the E3 2005 and released in 2009.

Similar to the other Killzone games in premise, Killzone 2 doesn't offer anything new to the franchise, aside from the fact that this time the ISA are the ones who took the initiative of invasion after the assault on Vekta. This third installment begins where the other two Killzones ended and technically is just another first person shooter where the main goal is survive at any cost.
The player takes the role of Sergeant Tomas Sevchenko, who is on the mission to put a halt the Helghast threat and help the main invasion front on the planet Helghan. But soon Sevchenko discovers that the main danger isn't the Helghast themselves, but the entire planet which is not just a hostile place to live but also a hostile place to battle.
The game indeed is good because it follows the narrative of the first two titles and it continues the story, but at the same time it can be boring as the game doesn’t offer anything innovative to the player in terms of storyline.

Probably the best thing that Killzone 2 has is its gameplay, which is truly fantastic. The controls are amazing and the whole experience is a dream, if you like shoot-em-ups. The artificial intelligence is fantastic and gives a dose of realism that is impossible to find in other games. And even if the scenarios are a little difficult to conquer, you will have the desire to continue playing because today there aren't many games that give some challenge to the player and at the same time give a different experience by putting an emphasis on the realism of the atmosphere.

The detail of the sounds is similar as the details of the graphics; it is perfection. There is no single sound that is going to repeat itself in every scenario, much as real life where there are a variety of sounds, the same variety can be found in the game as well. The sound plays an important part in the game, and not in a mere decorative aspect; but rather in a strategic manner. Sometimes the sounds will give you a heads-up when an enemy launches a missile or a similar weapon from a distance and you have to evade it. The music is excellent, almost like the soundtrack of a blockbuster film.

The game is really good, almost good as Doom, and the overall score given to Killzone 2 is a 4 over 5 stars. Why? Because even if the gameplay experience is fantastic, the storyline really could be better and less linear than it currently stands. If there is going to be another Killzone, maybe the developers could put an effort in creating a better story to compliment the excellent gameplay that has been shown in every Killzone game.
