Resistance: Retribution PSP Video Game Review

Resistance: Retribution includes a narrative story line that's the best and most compelling of the series so far for me, my love of the writing and character development aspects included got me involved in the action and had me developing a tight bond with the main character, James Grayson.

Resistance: Retribution has amazing gun play elements that vary nicely between frantic run-and-gun sequences, to armored mechanized battles, and even to fantastic underwater firefights that require you to act fast.

The intelligently designed auto-lock targeting system easily handles the onscreen onslaught, switching to the closest threat and quickly moving to the next target. You can even turn this system off if you want to increase your challenge and fun, and it also helps with enemies that have to be shot in specific areas.

The dull and bland pop-up and shoot game play elements are a bit dated and they definitely bring the over all excellent production values of Resistance: Retribution down a bit.

Resistance: Retribution shows signs of being made without cost being the prime element in consideration as the included cut-scenes include characters with nice details and textures and environments that are amazing for a PSP production and definitely make Resistance: Retribution one of the best looking PSP video games I have ever played.

The energetic sound track included with Resistance: Retribution also has the high production values of the other aspects of Retribution to hype the energy during the firefights nicely and blend perfectly at all times with the action on the screen.

The banter of the characters is constant, but the character acting is excellent, with nice emotion at times, and the dialogue shows the hand-mark of a real craftsman, with thoughtful and intelligent conversation and comments.

In Resistance: Retribution you play as James Grayson, main protagonist and patriotic individual who transitions during this game from an individual who routinely puts his life on the line for his country and people to an unforgiving introvert who has lost faith and becomes a recluse. Resistance: Retribution runs away from any notion of making you think about the story line, instead concentrating on fast-paced shooting gallery action.

Resistance: Retribution is a hassle free video game experience for the PSP that makes excellent use of an excellently designed auto lock-on system and a nicely mapped control scheme to produce an experience that is as fun to play as the console versions.

Gamers who own Resistance 2 can link it too Resistance: Retribution to gain regenerative health, a powerful magnum, and additional benefits.

Resistance: Retribution includes an on line experience you normally associate with Xbox 360 or Playstation 3 video games, like ranked and unranked matches, an extensive list of medals for accomplishments like kills, kill assists, captures, and even taunts. Resistance: Retribution only includes five maps with the on line mode, but there all perfectly scaled to the action, and provide a solid gaming experience for the PSP gamer.

Resistance: Retribution adds wonderfully to the Insomniac series with an amazing story line and outstanding game play that can stand toe to toe with the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 Game Console versions. Resistance: Retribution is truly a technical revolution for Nintendo DS games and gamers and shows that increased processing power doesn't make a good game, good development does.
