One of the greatest games in any Nintendo platform is Hotel Dusk: Room 215, because it has great noir themes and an amazing detective story where the player takes the role of Kyle Hyde a former NYPD who is now a door to door salesman trapped in the middle of a mystery at a place called Hotel Dusk.
The entire story is set in the premises of a mysterious and amoral place called Hotel Dusk, where a former NYPD member is searching for his missing partner that he was dead, but he appeared many months later at the Hotel using Kyle’s name. Kyle now a salesman / mob hit man decides to go to the Hotel and investigate if his former partner it’s still alive; but to his surprise he don’t find him but the people staying at the hotel have ties that link to where Kyle’s former partner really is.
The story is really cool as you will feel immerse in a noir movie from the 60’s where there is a mystery that you need to solve at any cost. The story is really simple as you could read but there is something really appealing that makes the game experience really neat and the best is that even if you are involved in a mystery where someone is presumed to be dead, there is no use of violence at all which is why the given score to the story is a perfect five.
The gameplay is really easy and quite simplistic but yet marvelous, because all the interactions are through the touch screen and all the features of the Nintendo DS. Through the game Kyle must speak with the guests and the employees of the hotel to achieve certain goals and know what happened to his former partner, but there is a catch: in order to obtain the good ending you can’t be evicted from the hotel, not even once.
One of the aspects that had made this game successful is the use of rotoscopy and 2.D animation to give life to the environment and characters. If you have play Trace Memory don’t except something far away from Trace, as Trace it’s the antecessor of Hotel Dusk and both games have certain similarities in their development, such as the use of rotoscoping the characters and using the Nintendo DS in a dynamic way that other games don’t have.
The given score to Hotel Dusk in gameplay is a 4 over 5, it can looks sometimes as Trace Memory but the characters are more lovable than the other game. The sounds and BMX are really good although not the best either, sometimes with the music you can feel a little drowsy and sleepy; but otherwise the gameplay is way much better and way much interesting than other and more advance games.
Hotel Dusk definitely is one jewel in the Nintendo archives, but at the end you just keep wanting for more and wanting to know what happened to Kyle and all the patrons of the Hotel, if they could fulfill their destinies at all?, probably the game could be turned into a series or at least into a trilogy because Kyle Hyde is one interesting character that deserves a further exploration in his story. The given score to Hotel Dusk is a 4 over 5 because even if it’s a great game, sometimes there is not enough information to know more about the characters, but I have to say this game is a must buy and if you want to acquire it you can click here, and if you need any help moving trough the game, you can click here and get help from this marvelous gamefaqs.com cheat.
