Throw out your dated board games and puzzles and make room for the hottest thing to hit family game night since take-out pizza!

When I was a kid all I wanted to do was leave the dinner table and play my Nintendo. My parents tried to play with me, but they were unfamiliar with so much computer interaction and the paddles were too small. Although my mother mastered Tetris (not really a two player game), the Nintendo moved into my room and quickly became “mine” instead of “ours.”

Not anymore. The next generation of Nintendo – the Wii – is marketed for intergenerational fun. Parents have had some time to grow up since 1987 and we’re tech savvy and gaming oriented. With the Wii’s endless accessories that enable its interactive motion-based play action, the Wii is bringing gaming consoles out of the kids' room and into the living room.

With titles ranging from sports to action, and including a growing selection of classic Nintendo titles, the Wii has something for everyone, and with multiple wireless remotes and online gaming, it’s easy to get the family together for a game of baseball, tennis, or my favorite, Mario Kart. And now you can take advantage of more exciting sports and fitness action with the new Wii Balance Board. Designed to measure your weight and position, the Wii Balance Board lets the family go skiing, snow- and skateboarding, and even to the gym, all without leaving the living room.

I've owned a lot of gaming consoles in my life, and Nintendo has always stood out as the best in durability and overall value. Remember that 1987 model I was talking about? I still have it. And my partner's N-64. When our family decided to purchase a new system, the Wii was the clear choice. Priced hundreds less than the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, what the Wii lacks in graphics capability it makes up for in good old fashion family fun.

So while sitting at the table and putting together another puzzle might sound like a fun game night, why not get up off the couch and challenge the family to a Wii game?!
