  • Best Controller to use for fast times in Mario Kart Wii

I'm torn here. I loved Mario Kart 64. My friends and I used to have tournaments, etc. Posted times online, etc.

With the new game, I'm trying to remain faithful to the designer's intent and use the wheel, but my friends all over me because he says that I will never get the control accuracy I need to beat him. He uses the gamecube controller.

So, any advice on the best controller here.

Joystiq and Kotaku put way more time into comparing than I ever will, so I'll point you to their testing. Both of them say the Wii Remote + Nunchuk is the most precise setup, with Joystiq adding that the Wii Wheel is the most fun.

I haven't done any huge research or scientific experimentation, but I prefer the wheel. From my experience, the wheel has better accuracy than the gamecube controller is even capable of. Thats only my opinion. My advice to you is to use whichever is most comfortable for you. You will get better, faster using a controller you like rather than one that feels awkward.
