Love Plus for Nintendo DS - Is This An Unhealthy Relationship?

Ok, when I saw the story on this one, I simply had to write something about it. I mean wow, Nintendo DS has virtual pets of all shapes and sizes, virtual babies, virtual jobs - and now, virtual girl friends. Konami must know some lonely guys out there who are longing for someone special, as they created Love Plus for the Nintendo DS.

While only out in Japan right now, Love Plus is an odd mix of virtual game and dating simulator that allows you to "date" several different girls. You have to do and say all the right things and hope that they bite - even going as far as to hold their hands and kiss them.

Really? You have to kiss your virtual girlfriend? On a Nintendo DS?

Uh, I'm creeped out. But, strangely, I'm wondering how this works. So, I had to find out a bit more.

Love Plus has you actually take out your new virtual girlfriend - in a real time environment - and work on planning your virtual future together. During this time, you'll have to do special things to keep her happy, such as whisper "sweet nothings" into her ear by whispering into your Nintendo DS' microphone... (really??) and if she wants a kiss, you have to touch her on the lips.

Ok, here I'm wondering what self respecting guy would really buy this game???

But, I guess that a lot of Japanese men are - so many that their real life wives are complaining about it. There was an interview posted on BoingBoing that actually goes into more... uh, explicit details about this dating simulator. Even the man giving the interview revealed that this game is embarassing to say the least - so why play it?

I guess that everyone wants to be needed and loved. So, I'm waiting for the news that Konami is releasing a version for all the lonely gamer girls out there... maybe he'll know how to cook and clean...

Hot New Video Games Coming Out To Tame Your Inner Gamer

Hello once again fellow gamers. I come bearing good news for those of you looking for some new found gaming fun this holiday season. There are tons of great new video games coming out between now and the end of the year (and a few a bit after that), so it's hard to believe that you aren't excited about at least one of them. Of course, we here at Bright Hub's Console Channel will do our very best to bring you the latest and greatest when it comes to new video games... and if you don't see something covered here - hey, just ask us!

But, in the meantime, here are some of the upcoming video games that we've got our gamer eyes on:

Left 4 Dead 2 - Yes, yes, another zombie game, we get it - gamers love killing zombies. Yet, this isn't another ordinary zombie slash fest, oh no my friend. This one offers up some massive amounts of bloody gore that you can shoot, whack, slash, or whatever you please. You get to play as one of the four survivors: Nick, Rochelle, Coach, or Ellis and figure out a way to get through some of the massive amounts of zombies in your way as you work your way from Savannah to New Orleans. Think you're gamer enough for Left 4 Dead 2? We'll find out soon enough as this one releases on November 17, 2009.

Army of Two: The 40th Day - Does this one ever look exciting... coming out through EA for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PSP, on January 12, 2010 (a certain ME's birthday), this upcoming video game has an extremely unique story line. When a series of "odd" disasters suddenly hits Shanghai and pushes the city to the edges of ruin, you and your partner will have to find your way through the city. Your goal: discover the secret of the 40th Day. This is one of the many new video games coming out that will rely heavily on multiplayer experience - so get ready gamers.

Bioshock 2 - Oh yeah, yet another Bioshock that we simply cannot wait for. While there is no release date set in stone yet... well, we're kinda hoping that they get this upcoming video game up and running pretty quickly.

Assassin's Creed 2 - For anyone that didn't play the first version of this game, shame on you. For anyone that loves a good RPG mixed in with some superb action, Assassin's Creed 2 is going to be a game that you cannot miss out on. And, to top it off, you get to meet Leonardo da Vinci - plus, kill a bunch of people. What could be better in a new video game? The one thing that really puts this game over the top is that it has an open world structure, go anywhere, do anything kinda game. I love these, I truly do. I hate being caged in and told where to go in my gaming... so thank you for creating this one with a wide open space to allow my inner-gamer to run free.

Ok, so before you boo me and tell me about all of the other new releases for video games that are coming out, let me tell you this - it's the middle of the night currently, I'm up checking out games when I should be sleeping, and I already know that there are WAY too many sweet new video games hitting the shelves in the next two months. I only hope that we can scratch the urface on what we cover to keep all of you gamers happy out there.

CoD Modern Warfare 2: Are You Really Ready For This?

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

It's here gamers and it's bad.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 hit shelves today, much to the relief of adoring fans and drooling gamers. But, what was not anticipated was how well CoD Modern Warfare 2 was recieved. In fact, just from the first day sales figures that Activision released for the opening day of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 - it smashed all of the other one-day sales records.

Take this number in gamers: we spent over $310 million dollars on Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 in the first day that it hit shelves all over the world.

$310 million.

Who says the console video game industry is dead?

Believe it or not, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 actually beat out the previous one-day sales record holder - Grand Theft Auto IV - as it broke the GTA record with just numbers from two countries. GTA IV grossed $310 million around the world - CoD Modern Warfare 2 grossed that amount easily in just the US and the UK.

Think about the numbers added to that from all around the world and then turn back around and tell me that the video game industry is dead folks. Sure, MMO games are cool, casual PC games rock, but come on guys - $310 million dollars in one single day, in just two countries. That is even blowing Halo 3's release out of the water and it was touted everywhere for months before it hit shelves.

Activision Celebrates -

Mike Griffith, CEO of Activision Publishing, celebrated.

"The shattering of these entertainment records is a testament to the compelling, cinematic and uniquely engaging experience that the Call of Duty brand delivers," he said in a press release. "Modern Warfare 2 has taken interactive experience to unprecedented heights setting a new standard for entertainment."

The modern day war game takes players around the globe as they track down a dangerous international terrorist. It's particularly popular as an online game, although the sudden influx of players has already proven too much for the PS3 version's online servers to handle. Things have been rosier on the Xbox 360: earlier today, Microsoft spokesperson Major Nelson tweeted that the Xbox Live service just hit a new record of 2 million simultaneous players.
