With the massive success of Spore for the PC, it's easy to see why the developers would want to take it to other gamers - especially for those portables, such as the DS. So, here is your Bright Hub Preview of Spore Hero Arena, which is set to release sometime in late 2009.
Who Hasn't Heard of Spore
With the wild success of Spore from Electronic Arts in 2008, it's pretty easy to understand why they would want to take it to other gaming markets such as the console games. And, with all of the gamers these days loving the portability of the DS and the new DSi, this was a great choice of gaming platform for them to take on. While Spore Hero Arena doesn't come out for the DS until sometime in late 2009 (they haven't exactly been forthcoming with the release date yet), I thought that it was well worthy of a preview here on Bright Hub for those that might be looking forward to it.
The Game
Basically, Spore Hero Arena is said to be set mainly on the action between the different toons. But, the action is more set in a championship between different gamers/toons in a massive array of arena battles, I guess similar to Pokemon. For those familiar with the Wii version of Spore, you will easily make the transition into the Spore Hero Arena, as the DS version is supposed to be set in that same universe.
As the game starts, your ship is whacked with a meteor flying through space and you get lost and crash on an uncharted planet. Once you land, you get to see the Forgotten Master. He will go through the whole deal with the evil on the planet and the red meteors that spawned them all. He'll also give you advice and some training on the championship as well as let you know that you are immune to the corruption that the evil toons in the game have put on other "good" toons that tried to compete with them.
Creature Creator
Just like in the other Spore games, you have a creature creator that will allow you to create a ton of different heroes to use in the competitions. You can even see these guys in a 3D environment, which sounds really cool to me, as well as give them some brand new abilities that they haven't had before. And, from what I'm hearing, there will also be a whole new set of body parts that you'll get to choose from too so that your creations will really be unique to your game on the DS.

Multiplayer Modes
Just like Pokemon, Spore Hero Arena will have a huge multiplayer mode ability. From what I've heard, you'll also be able to use it through the Wi-Fi connection that Nintendo has as well as through local battles where other nearby DS users with the game can play with you. There will be special preset arenas that you can play in and there will also be a mode where you will be able to create your own special arena to use in any different mode.
Overall
There hasn't been much released about the game yet, and from what I can see, it really mirrors Pokemon a lot. Hopefully, there will be some other changes and aspects to the story line that will strengthen in the development so that it will be easier for DS gamers to get into Spore Hero Arena and not just feel like it's a Pokemon knockoff.
