Patapon 2: Basic Guide

Patapon 2 is a sequel for the PSP that fans of the first version will really enjoy. While the game overall is pretty easy, here is a basic guide that will help you make it through the game quicker.

Even though this is a sequel, those that have never played the first version will still have an easy time playing #2. This is one of the few sequels where a new player can jump right in and start playing without any problems at all. But, to help you out a bit, here are some of the basics to the game that you'll want to know.

Difficulties

In the game, you can set the difficulty level to three different versions: easy, normal, and hard. Easy is the level that you'll want to start with if you have never played the game as it's extremely forgiving on the time limits and so on. You can work your way up from there.

Basic Controls for the Game

In the game, you'll navigate yourself around with the L and R keys. When you are in the Obelisk mission, you can look around using L and R, then move around with the left and right keypad buttons. In the mission prep screen, you will find several different features that you'll want to get familiar with so you can use them to your advantage.

Patapon selection: this is where you can select an empty area to add your Patapons to or you can empty a space to use if needed.

Equipment selection: this is where you can rank your Patapons along with their equipment and you can also put in the order of the individual Patapons within the group that you are using. Getting stuck? You can hit SELECT and find out what each different stat means for the equipment selections.

Miricale selection: this is only available to you after you get a miracle, and you can only use one of these at a time. These go in the big round area under the Hatapon.

Multiplayer

There is a multiplayer mode on Patapon 2 where you can easily play against other people when you get your Hero and then unlock Parageto. I would suggest that you play through the single player modes first so that you are familiar with everything before you try playing against others.

In the multiplayer mode, you can actually host a multiplayer game or join into one that's already in progress.

Game Play

You'll go through a tutorial for the beginning of the game, and you want to make sure that you do this so you are familiar with everything you need to do to complete the level successfully.
