Article by Gustavo Lequerica-Calvo (7,977 pts ) , published May 20, 2009

SimCity DS is a curious adaptation of SimCity 3 to the Nintendo DS. It's not a port, as it has many different elements, but the visuals are heavily based on the previous incarnation. We'll show you how to use the cheat system to your advantage and get the most from the game.

A Brief Introduction

To describe SimCity DS is to describe a heavily modified version of P.C. game SimCity 3000. SimCity DS is almost an exact replica, or pocket version, of the aforementioned game, with a few changes that were made so the game could be played on the Nintendo DS. The controls and a modification to the graphics interface were necessary due the Nintendo DS' limitations compared to a computer.

With this article, we'll explore what codes and features are available in the pocket version of SimCity DS.

Unlockable Historic Locations

In the main menu of the game go to the Museum option, when you are there select Landmark Collection and last select Password. In the Password window you can input one of the codes that are below to obtain a historic landmark such as the Arc De Triumph and even the White House. You can use these buildings inside the game, 10 per location, but these building won't help you to improve the status of your city as they are merely decorative but still fun to see inside the game.

Unlockables with Population Increase

After your city's population hits the 100 mark the Post Office will be unlocked. Once this is unlocked, the player can exchange information with other players. 3,000 habitants unlocks the museum, Mayor's House requires 5,000, The Court House will appear after 25,000 people are living in your city and probably the trickiest building to obtain is the Medical Research Lab because it will appear after 80,000 people claim residence in your city.
