As you play through this fantastic wrestling game, you can unlock a ton of new content, including additional wrestlers, arenas and entrances. This guide will show you how to do it, as well as provide some cheat codes in case you'd rather have some instant gratification.
Undoubtedly, WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2009 is one of the deepest wrestling games ever made. As covered previously in our review of the game, this Yuke's developed and THQ published title contains an incredibly deep create-a-wrestler mode, a career mode and storylines featuring multiple different characters, including fan favorites such as Triple H, John Cena and Batista.
In addition to the many different play modes included in the game, there are also several secret characters and other unlockable modes and items hidden within. This guide will show you how to earn some of them.
Road to Wrestlemania Unlockables
Many of the unlockable characters, arenas and other features need to be earned by taking the various characters through the Road to Wrestlemania storylines. In the locker room prior to matches or events, sometimes there will be a note that lists an optional objective. Successfully complete that objective and you will earn a bonus.
Secrets will also be unlocked once the characters successfully complete their Wrestlemania matches, thus beating the Road to Wrestlemania. In the John Cena mode, for example, players can unlock Snitsky and Tony (Cena's soldier friend) as playable characters, the Gauntlet match, and the Tribute to the Troops arena by successfully completing all of the optional challenges during his Road to Wrestlemania.
Defeating MVP at during their final match unlocks a special entrance involving a Jeep and the American flag. Similar rewards can be earned by playing as Triple H, CM Punk, the Undertaker, Chris Jericho and the team of Batista and Rey Mysterio.
Using Codes to Unlock Characters and Costumes
However, Road to Wrestlemania isn't the only way you can unlock new characters, costumes and arenas. If you don't want to take the time to earn them, some wrestlers can be unlocked with cheat codes, many of which have been provided to gamers by the WWE themselves on their official website. Codes are case sensitive.
