#5 Punch-Out!! Featuring Mr. Dream

Published by: Nintendo
Developed by: Nintendo
Release Date: April 16, 2007
Genre: Sports (boxing)
(NES, 1 player, 500 Wii Points): One of my favorite boxing games ever, Punch-Out!! put the stamp on what a boxing game was suppose to be like. Games like Ready 2 Rumble, Knockout Kings and even Fight Night all owe their dues to this great old-school boxer. Playing as Little Mac, gamers play through the World Video Boxing Association circuit taking on boxers one at a time, starting off with skinny Glass Joe, battling up to King Hippo and the Sandman, all the way to the WVBA Champion, Mr. Dream (in the original version he was Mike Tyson). With great, addictive, and fun gameplay, Punch-Out!! will keep you entertained for hours. Jab, punch, and uppercut your way to the championship!
#4 Excitebike

Published by: Nintendo
Developed by: Nintendo
Release Date: March 19, 2007
Genre: Racing
(NES, 1 player, 500 Wii Points): Easily one of the best racers on the NES, Excitebike introduced a whole new way to race with crazy curves, insane obstacles, and high-fly jumps as you race towards the Excitebike championship. Pick your race as you choose to face the clock or face an opponent, but be careful to avoid getting clipped by other racers and watch your temperature meter or your bike will overheat. Tired of racing on the circuit? Try and create your own track as Excitebike introduces one of the first level designers in video game history. In Design Mode, you have access to all the ramps, mounds, bridges and other obstacles to create a track of your own.
#3 Super Mario World

Published by: Nintendo
Developed by: Nintendo
Release Date: February 5, 2007
Genre: Platformer
(SNES, 2 players, 800 Wii Points): Super Mario Bros., simply said, is the definition of gaming. Super Mario World takes what made the great 2D platforms of the NES and makes it even better on the SNES with superior graphics, tighter controls, and improved level design. Mario, along with his brother Luigi, take players through more than 30 colorful levels of varied theme and design, all of them packed with enemies like goombas and koopa troopas with a wide array of platforms and obstacles. Definitely one of the best Mario games of all time and worth the download for sure.
#2 Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars
Published by: Nintendo
Developed by: Square
Release Date: September 1, 2008
Genre: RPG
(SNES, 1 player, 800 Wii Points): What happens when Nintendo and Square get together to work on a game? A beautiful thing called Super Mario RPG. Easily one of my favorite RPGs ever, Super Mario RPG mixes the great elements of role-playing games Square has always been known for with the world of the Super Mario Bros. and the Mushroom Kingdom. In Super Mario RPG, the Mushroom Kingdom finds itself in the midst of chaos by the appearance of an evil villain, Smithy, who crashes into Star Road, causing seven stars to be scattered throughout the Kingdom. Mario and his friends must recover the Seven Stars and repair the Star Road by making an epic journey to Bowser's castle to stop Smithy. With vintage Square RPG action and puzzle elements paired with the Super Mario Bros. universe, Super Mario RPG is one hell of a game and a great title to add to your Virtual Console.
#1 Super Mario Bros. 3

Published by: Nintendo
Developed by: Nintendo
Release Date: November 5, 2007
Genre: Platformer
(NES, 2 players, 500 Wii Points): Fly above the action using the Super Leaf, swim faster by wearing the Frog Suit or defeat enemies using the Hammer Bros. Suit in one of Mario's greatest adventures, Super Mario Bros. 3. One of the best selling games of all time, Super Mario Bros. 3 introduced a whole new way to play as the Mario Bros. with new moves, new items, and new enemies as you venture beyond the Mushroom Kingdom into the seven neighboring worlds on a mission to take down Bowser once again. Using the brand-new overworld map, take the chance to play a minigame in hopes of gaining extra lives or to find a Toad's House where you can pick up additional items. One of my favorite games of all time, Super Mario Bros. 3 is a must have for anyone's Virtual Console collection.
