Lamar is a contributing editor in the Windows, Linux, PC Hardware, Mechanical Engineering, GPS and Navigation, and Home Theater channels. He write mostly about open source and free software for Windows Vista and XP, as well as noteworthy commerical software, hardware, and computer accessories.
I have a special interest in using a PC as an entertainment and media center, and many articles I've written at Bright Hub relate to this.

I'm a single guy living near Atlanta. My interests and curiosity are wide and circle around computers, handheld computers, old cars, old tractors, country gardens, and collecting antique encylcopedia sets. I also make a mean pepper sauce.
I've been involved with personal computing since 1987. I've used OS/2, RedHat Linux, Windows 3.0 and now have an HP Vista Ultimate Media Center PC, a Vista-powered ThinkPad, and an XP Professional ThinkPad. Various other partially assembled PCs may be found near me.
I switched to a Dvorak keyboard layout in the mid-nineties and have to hunt-n-peck on a standard keyboard now. I also adopted the Microsoft split "comfort" keyboards. They are not overly reliable, but a combination of Dvorak and Microsoft makes for comfortable typing.
I've also recently returned to running Linux after a six-year hiatus. I tried openSuse for a while and currently have Ubuntu installed on my ThinkPad. I'm adding material to the Linux articles section and Linux Blog as I come up to speed with it.

Long ago I did some C programming and may be remembered for the shareware program EasyMenu ("The Mousable Menu") or gRhythm, a cardiac rhythm recognition program for the Gnome environment in Linux.
More recently, I've administered and created content for the writer's website KudzuMonthly.com and was involved with the sad, grand dream called Themestream.
