Computational genomics is simply the application of mathematical models to a medical field, which seeks to analyze the co-relation between the different proteins, enzymes, and other molecular substances present in a particular protein.

Computational genomics is simply the application of mathematical models to a medical field, which seeks to analyze the co-relation between the different proteins, enzymes, and other molecular substances present in a particular protein.

The genetic code consists of millions of proteins which are interlinked, multiplying, mutating, or killing or creating new ones in sequences that are complex and variegated, and cannot be logged unless there is a constant watch on it. And the sequence in which it does, what triggers it, etc., are required to be researched in thoroughly before it can be released in the world of science to further spur research

its value, and how it can be controlled to prevent disease or disorders.

Thus the use of multiple or huge number of computers, and databases covering the various genetic codes that are stored is referred to as computational genomics. The importance of these computations cannot be overemphasized, even if their net results are low.

There has been a lot of controversy surrounding this subject of computational genomics or genomics itself. Many of the researchers have sought patents for their genetic code breakthroughs, and there are moral debates going about using the genetic way of treatment of diseases, and indeed genetic engineering of the living and the yet to be born, offering couples a chance to choose what particular kind of child they would want.

In the field of agriculture, the breakthroughs in plant genetics have helped the production of genetically modified seeds, which seem to improve agriculture throughput, avoiding the normal pestilence which would eat away the crop or lower the yield. Yet, there are very many campaigns that the full effects of these genetically modified varieties of food are really beneficial to the environment are yet to be fully settled.

This debate has been further aggravated by those who believe that it is not in the hands of mankind

to tinker with the natural process of evolution, survival and death. But they are generally silent when it comes to the use genetic breakthroughs in science which help to save lives, or partially remove the effects of some congenital or progressive diseases.

Yet, the contribution of computational genomics cannot be denied.
