One of their programs is Circa – software intended to assist project management teams with estimations, planning and controlling software projects. Tassc offers training and consulting services as well. They are a European based company, so their fees and prices are in Euros – Circa costs approximately $590. The Training and consulting services run between 700 Euros and 1800 Euros per day depending upon what your company might require.
As I mentioned, Tassc is a multifaceted company – they produce productivity software (Circa) and they offer training and consultation services. Their goal is to help you, the consumer of their products to manage efficiently resources when it comes to software development projects.
Circa provides estimates of cost, time, and effort needed for the software project. However, it is more than a simple estimation program. Tassc’s Circa also will allow you to forecast “what if’s”, update your schedule with relative ease, formulate Gantt charts, and interface with HTML and Microsoft Excel formats. It also promises built in metrics and ease of navigation. Unfortunately, Circa
’s evaluation software was not compatible with my machine, so I cannot offer information testifying to whether the claim of usability is true.
Tassc offers training in four areas: UML, Enterprise Architect, Java, and Circa. On their website, they offer syllabi for these various training courses. Topics for a one-day UML seminar include Object Principles, an Overview, and Class Diagrams. These training seminars are intense and packed with information, so it appears that the client does get a good value. Sessions include exercises to help the attendees to understand the topic.
Tassc consultation services include case modeling, UML, estimation techniques, defining processes, risk assessment, and software architecture definition. Consultants are very experienced in these fields, with the only those who are most experienced providing software architecture consultations.
Tassc could most benefit you if you live in the UK. Because I had a compatibility issue between Circa and my computer, I cannot testify to the utility of this program other than to say it seems to be a great program. Because the company is European based, training and consultation services will be of most use to those companies and corporations in the European Union. However, their syllabi for training do appear to be quite comprehensive.
