This newly updated program allows for a network of people to work on multiple projects, keep track of the hours spent, and submit them directly to the Project Manager for bookkeeping purposes. It is available at http://www.cyber-matrix.com/timesheets.html. It costs between $55 and $5000 depending upon how many users will have a license and the edition needed.
This program is not as user friendly as other programs out there that perform similar tasks. In order to use the timesheet; projects, clients, and tasks need to be pre-entered using drop-down menus on the toolbar. Once entered, members of the
project team can select the client, project and specific tasks they are working on. The strength of this system is that the project manager can control the employees, clients, projects, and tasks available to her crew. It also makes the cost analysis phase of the project easier to follow. The Project Manager can look at who has worked on which projects and tasks, and track the time spent on each task. It is also useful for determining how much time to budget in the future for similar tasks. The weakness of this system is that the entry of clients, projects, and tasks can be quite tedious.
As an option, the administrator can manually enter each possible project and task for each employee, giving the administrator control over the scope of projects employees are able to work on at any given time. Once projects are assigned, the project manager may cancel them by right clicking on the assignment when in the Projects/Tasks screen.
Other than the issues with data entry and cancellation of a project, CyberMatrix Timesheets is a useful program for Project Managers and teams that wish to keep track of the time spent on each task or project for clients. Although Timesheets does not interface directly with Excel, data can be imported in CSV format which can be opened in Excel.
It can also export to quickbooks and Microsoft Project. Reports export into various formats including PDF, email, and HTML files. While the program is less user-friendly than other programs available, once the manager sets up the program properly for the various employees, projects and tasks, it could be an invaluable tool.
