WebExOne is project management software found in the WebEx Office suite. It is an Internet collaboration software suite. This program includes applications that facilitate file sharing and communication between team members. It is published by Cisco, who has just recently acquired WebEx.
A free trial of the software is available, and the program is priced based upon the number of users. It starts at $59.99 a month for five members and goes up to around $2500 a month for 500 members.
In addition to allowing for team members to readily share files and collaborate with one another, WebExOne offers many project management features. It comes with the following applications:
- Document Manager - keep all project documents in one place.
- Online Calendar - keep track of important deadlines and scheduling information where everyone can see it.
- Database Manager - keep important information in one place.
- Task Manager - keep track of what needs to be done, what is being done, and what has been done, all in one place.
- Discussion Forums - when an important issue arises, you know where to find a discussion on it - and perhaps offer a solution.
- Announcements - keep all team members abreast of important information.
- Contact Directories - have a place where all stakeholders can be easily reached.
- Expense Reports - are you on budget?
- Opinion Polls - Should you prioritize issue A or issue B?
- Administration Tools - Where the project manager monitors the project progress.
These ten applications seamlessly integrate with one another to make WebExOne a simple-to-use online office suite. The program is secure, requiring user authentication and permissions for objects within the system. It also has multiple layer network and site security boasting that the program is like a "fortress to hack" into. Speaking of security, author and project management expert, Cary Stuart, penned an article related to security titles, "Are Online Project Management Suites Secure?"
Another tantalizing feature of this program is the ability to recover data after a disaster. The hosting facility provided by WebExOne is set up to keep the information entered into the program backed up and safe in the advent of catastrophe. WebExOne also offers technical support for project managers when it comes to using their product.
WebExOne is for you if web-based project management software appeals to you. It is great for those who are concerned about security and disaster management with project management software. The program has been taken over by Cisco, a company known for producing quality software.
The only downside to WebExOne is that you cannot access it if for some reason you have an internet outage. Of course, this is a concern with any on-demand software.
