  • Which Version of MS Excel is Required to Download and View Template Files?

Do I need Microsoft Excel 2007 in order to open the template files that are discussed in the Project Management channel? Is there a way I can use Excel 2003 or another spreadsheet application to open the template files?

Many of the templates and sample files are available in Excel 2003 format, but there are a few only in the 2007 format. However, even if you're using Excel 2003, you still should be able to access them if you download and install a special compatibility pack from Microsoft. This article by Meryl Evans gives more information about that pack and a few links to other file conversion services. If you're still having problem, let us know which file is giving you trouble and we can see about posting one with the 2003 format for you. Thanks!
