When it comes to tracking employee time, it is important to find programs that are easy to use and that plug into billing and payroll utilities. What follows is a list of the best and most popular employee time tracking software programs. With the right time tracking software, you can streamline billing, payroll and time management.

Time Clock Plus

Time Clock Plus is one of the older time tracking software programs. It has four versions: Small Business Edition, Professional Edition, Enterprise Edition and Web Edition. In the enterprise edition, employees are able to track their time by tasks. The web edition can be used

with the time clock so that managers can manage employee time tracking remotely.

Web TimeSheet

Web TimeSheet offers two versions: Project and Billing Edition and Time and Attendance Edition. Both editions have free trials. Project and Billing Edition is available for $12.00 per month, per user and Time and Attendance Edition is available for $8.00 per month, per user. The Project and Billing Edition includes the abilities to easily track time, manage projects and to base billing on tasks. The Time and Attendance Edition tracks time through the computer but time sheets can also be manually entered. Employers can also track time off and payroll information. For more information on the Project and Billing Edition, see Lucinda Watrous' article, "Learn about Web Time Sheet: Project and Billing Edition".

TimeForce

TimeForce is a third option when it comes to employee time tracking software programs. This program allows users to track time, manage time and process this information using accounting software. This software can work with time clocks, software or even PDA's and Cell Phones. Once the time has been collected through these various input methods, it can then be managed with add-ons available through Time Force. Finally, the information can be exported to payroll processing software that either belongs to your company or belonging to an external payroll service.

Time Logger

Another popular Time Tracking software program available for companies is Time Logger. This program comes with a free Palm interface. Licensing for this program runs between $89 for one user and $2,999 for up to 100 users. This program tracks time to the minute, allows users to track time by client and write a description of what they did for that client. The program also has a vast technical support team, allowing users to get help when they need it most. Expenses and Mileage are also easily tracked using Time Logger. Finally, the administrators can create customized invoices using any word processor. The program integrates with Quickbooks and Quicken.

Dovico Timesheeet

Finally, Dovico Timesheet allows employees to use time tracking software with relative ease. Although this program has a free trial, it costs $156 per user. If there will be more than 100 users, the price is $117 per user. It allows employers to monitor actual vs. estimated costs in projects. Dovico also provides many resources

for technical support. The program automatically collects time sheets and creates graphic reports. This program integrates with Microsoft Project and Microsoft Project Server, as well as Intuit Quickbooks.
