Read It Later is an extension for Firefox 3 that enables you to save a website to read later, without bookmarking it. Use Read It Later in your home office to help you stay on task, increase productivity, and eliminate finding curious, unknown bookmarks hanging around your bookmark folders.

How to Use it

Installing Read It Later adds a checkmark to the end of your URL bar. It also adds a book icon to your toolbar. Click the checkmark while browsing a site to add it to Read It Later without interrupting your work. Click the book icon to see read an item from your list or use the arrow to view a list of items and options.

Productivity

  • While working, you can add websites to Read It Later that are off-topic, but interesting. If you find yourself becoming engrossed by a site, but you should be working on something else, add it to your list.
  • Use Read It

    Later to save websites that might be useful for work, but aren’t pertinent to what you’re currently working on. For example, if you’re a blogger, you may come across a new blog you’d like to check out, but you’ve already gotten what you need from it for your current post.

  • If you work from home part-time and in an office part-time, you can use Read It Later to save websites you found at the office, but want access to at home.
  • Saving websites you don’t have time to look through carefully eliminates the need to bookmark them or add to your feed reader, only to find that you want to delete them once you’ve read more content. Read It Later let's you remember to check it out without any commitment.

Read It Later can be downloaded at FireFox Add-Ons. Read It Later has a few extra options. You can access your reading list anywhere by going to readitlater.com and logging in. You may subscribe to an RSS feed of your reading list, sync your list with other computers, or read your list offline. These are excellent features for workers who travel, split their time between working at home or in an office, and those with laptops who like to take their work with them wherever they go. It has similar functionality to Read It Later, but you can use it with Firefox or Safari. It is also accessible from your iPhone. It might work on other handsets, but hasn’t been tested. You can also use it offline on the iPhone and iPod touch, which is a pretty great feature.
