Find a visual object that has nothing to do with your personal or work life. The key is to temporarily take your mind off of your work, your personal issues and other worrisome thoughts while you regain mental clarity. Focus on the visual for it least five minutes every hour—think of it as your mini-getaway at your desk.
Music
Music can be a distraction for some people. With a little light melody playing in the background, you can easily drown out pesky and interruptive noises such as barking dogs, loud children, televisions, and common household creeks and squeaks. Choosing music that is soothing with minimal words and singing will lessen the chances of getting caught up in the music and allowing it to be a distraction.
Relocate

Heading to the library or the park are other options. A change of scenery and a bit of sunshine will stimulate your mind, reduce your stress and allow you to focus on tasks at hand.
