Being a work at home mom (WAHM) is not easy and takes a lot of patients and multi-tasking ability. Between the housework, caring for the kids and work, it is easy to become overwhelmed. These tips are designed to help you manage your time a bit more efficiently.

  1. Create an hour-by-hour schedule of your daily activities. Include time for feeding the kids, showering, housework, and work hours, and time for you. Try to stick to the schedule as much as possible, but be ready and willing to rearrange it if needed.
  2. Keep a list of projects and tasks that need to get done. This might include things such as fixing a leaky faucet, purchasing a birthday gift, organizing the kitchen cabinets, etc. When you find yourself with a few free moments, look over the list and complete one of the tasks. Cross it out when you are done.
  3. Doing small things

ahead of time can prove to be big time-savers later on. When putting away laundry, hang outfits together on hangers, cook a double batch if dinner and freeze the second portion, and write down any foods or supplies as you run out of them. Take some time to think of other small things you can do to save time later.

  4. You do not have to do everything by yourself. Assign age-appropriate chores to your children. This will not only be a big help to you, but is teaching your children responsibility and good life skills. Also be sure to ask your husband for help around the house.
  5. Spend time at the end of each day to organize the areas of your house that quickly becomes cluttered. This might be your desk, kitchen counter or hallway table. Go through the piles and discard any junk mail, old notes, food wrappers, etc. and put everything else in its proper space. The more organized you become, the less time you will spend cleaning or locating stuff later on.
  6. With so much to do, it is easy to forget to take a break for yourself every now and again. Make time each day to do something for you. This might be taking a bath, watching your favorite soap opera, reading a book
or working on your hobby. Make sure to tell your husband and children not to bother you and that you are taking some personal time away. This time is so important and allows you to de-stress, thus being a better mom and wife, so don’t ever feel guilty for taking this time.
