Do you have a mom on your gift list that works from home? If so, she may very well enjoy a gift that makes her life a little bit easier. The following are suggested gift ideas for the work at home mom (WAHM).

  1. A timer: Timers are a great way to encourage children to allow mom to get her work done, knowing that when the timer goes off, mom’s attention will be focused on them. There are many types of timers of the market, from digital to sand, traditional to whimsical. Locate one that matches the gift recipient’s personal taste.
  2. Childproofing supplies: This includes things such as outlet plugs, cushions for desk corners, cord ties, anything that helps keep kids safe while playing in the office as mom works. Even better, help mom with the installation of the supplies you purchased!
  3. Babysitting services: Tight on

money? Offer your babysitting services for a certain number of days or hours to help mom while she works. This won’t cost you a penny, but will be highly appreciated by the recipient.

  4. A laptop: If you have a large amount to spend, a laptop is the perfect gift for the WAHM. She can carry her laptop with her wherever she goes, allowing her to work from anywhere (the backyard, doctor’s office, the park, etc.).
  5. A desktop shredder: Desktop is the operative word here. Children are likely to be fascinated by the shredder, and it is inevitable that they would shred valuable documents if they had access to it. Prevent this mishap by purchasing mom a compact shredder that she can store high on a self.
  6. A book: There are a ton of books that have been written for work at home moms. A quick search of the subject in Amazon brings up over 1500 books alone. Some of my personal favorites are Mom Management: Managing Mom Before Everybody Else by Tracy Lyn Moland and It's a Jungle Out There and a Zoo in Here: Run Your Home Business without Letting It Overrun You by Cheryl Demas.
  7. Personalized mouse pad: Have a mouse pad made that features the recipient’s children. Simply locate (or take) a nice photo and send it to a company that will turn it into a mouse pad, like Shutterfly or Snapfish.
  8. A calendar: Locate one that offers lots of room for filling in appointments, activities, etc. There are some nice calendars on the market dedicated for moms that might be nice.
  9. A gift card: Purchase a gift card from an office supply store and let mom choose her own gift. There is no doubt that she won’t be able
to put this gift to a good use!
  10. Something for the kids: Don’t ignore the opportunity to purchase a gift for the kids. Look for toy calculators, laptops and phones. Children love to act like mom, and having some of the same “office equipment” as her will keep them entertained as she works.
