If you are looking for a way to make more money with your products, you can always look into wholesaling. It’s not as hard as you might think that it would be and you can make some good money for your business. You just have to know where to go and what to sell this way.

What Should You Sell Wholesale

There are many things that do well in a wholesale market. Jewelry that is priced low does well in most areas, but the problem with this is that you have to make your money back too. This can be hard if you are creating your own products because businesses that sell them have to have a good mark up on what they are selling.

There are a few things that you should think about when you are getting into wholesaling. One of the things that you should think about is the service agreement. Look at these long and hard if you are planning on working with a wholesale company. They are all very different and charge different prices for working with them. Make sure that you are ready for the price that they charge and that it’s ok with you. Most of these companies will take it out of your first invoice to them.

Where to Sell

There are many places that you can sell your products at wholesale prices and the best thing that you can do is look into all of them to see what ones are best for you.

The first place that most wholesalers look is online. You can go about wholesaling in a couple of different ways online. You can create an online wholesale website that has all of your products for wholesale prices and that you give to your business customers. The advantage to this method is that you can keep everything looking uniform and it’s easy to find for your customers. You can also go though an online company that sells your products for you. The best part of this is that you don’t have to worry about much except getting the products out. You will have higher fees and possibly a monthly fee as well. These can get kind of high and unmanageable.

Trade Shows are another place that you can sell your products at. They will usually be full of buyers for high end stores as well as small businesses that are looking for products to sell in their store. You will have to pay a fee to be in the show as well as bring high quantities of your products for buyers to see and walk away with.

There are many different ways that you can sell your products for wholesale prices. You just have to know where to go and what you want to sell in this way. If you find a great place to sell and a good product, you won’t have anything to worry about with your business. You might even make more money then you thought possible.

Hi Joanne,

Have you thought about using this time to re-evaluate your standard retail prices as well? It would help if you had a list of exactly how much each item cost you to make (including labor). Then you could set up a spreadsheet that listed your cost to make, your retail price, and different wholesale prices depending on how much the vendor buys. That is, you may not want to give them that big a discount unless they are purchasing items in bulk quantities - which might, in turn, let you buy materials cheaper.

I was just approached to sell my children's hair accessories wholesale to a children's hair salon. My problem is knowing what to charge. I have my retail prices, of course, but deciding what to charge the salon is confusing. I can't do a straight 50% off, because on some items, I'd either lose money or even break even. Some items are more labor and material intensive. Can anybody help?

Great Article
You gave a good listing of the many ways to wholesale your products. Using a sales rep would be another step to wholesaling.
