Zenware: Zenware refers to two different types of software programs; first, zenware is any application program that is designed to function with minimum user direction; the number of clicks or commands needed to accomplish something within the program is minimized as much as possible. Second, zenware refers to smaller programs that offer simplified versions of larger programs by disabling features which are unnecessary for particular applications.
Zimbra: An offering from Yahoo, Zimbra is a desktop and email manager which allows Yahoo users to access their email accounts without using the web-based email interface. Zimbra also allows for the user to setup
and manage multiple email accounts (including non-Yahoo accounts) through its interface.
Zip File: A zip file is a set of files that has been compressed in order to take up less space and less time when transferring. In order to use the files again, they must be "unzipped," or decompressed and returned to original form. Zip files are often used to store and/or transfer file that take up large amounts of data space, such as digital photos, videos, or audio files.
Zoom: The zoom function, whether in a word processor or web browser or computer desktop, changes the point of view for a user by allowing them, virtually, to get closer to what is being viewed on the coputer screen. Zooming has the effect of putting up a pair of binoculars in order to see the item at a much magnified levels. Most applications give zooming options, usually percentage based, so that the user can choose to zoom to a 100% view (to see, perhaps, what a document might look like when printed) or to a much increased percentage view (useful for editing details on digital photos). Programs also allow the user to "zoom out" and go to a less than 100% view. Percents often are presented in 25% increments for a zoom
function.
Zope: Zope, or Z Object Publishing Editor, is a web site builder and server with a philosophy of its own. It views the webpages build and made available as objects rather than as content. Zope is an open source program and is available free for use. It runs on all major operating systems.
