If you've ever been in a crunch and needed to create a slide show presentation, but didn't have access to Microsoft Office, you can identify with the panic of not knowing where to turn. Although Microsoft Office is generally omnipresent, I've always managed to come across a computer or laptop that didn't have it. 280 Slides is the answer to your hopeless desperation.

280 Slides is a free web based application that doesn't require downloading or installation on your local hard drive. Everything is done from your browser. You can upload existing presentations from PowerPoint or OpenOffice into 280Slides. You can make changes

to the existing file through your browser. If you want to start from scratch, follow these steps:

Launch the 280 Slides.

Choose to create a new presentation, open a saved presentation, or import an existing presentation.

If you choose to create a new presentation, you will need to select a background theme from 9 possible choices.

From here, you'll get to work editing your presentation to your preferences. Add images by uploading from your desktop or through searching the web directly from 280 Slides. You can add videos similarly from your desktop or from online sites like Youtube or Vimeo.

After you've created all your slides, you can choose to save and download your presentation, email it, or share it via SlideShare. 280 Slides interfaces with SlideShare to host your presentation. You'll need to register with SlideShow, but the process is clean and easy. In SlideShow, you will get a html code in order to embed your slide show presentation on your website, or you can send the address link to others for viewing directly on the SlideShow site.

280 Slides is not as glossy as PowerPoint, but it's free and easy. The tools 280 Slides provide are more than adequate. You can create professional presentations without much effort. You can also work on your presentation from different computers without the hassle of emailing yourself the presentation file or carrying it around on a USB drive. 280 Slides is a fantastic alternative for those who need to access their presentations from anywhere.
