Serif, an up and coming software company that is well known in the U.K. and around the world, has just released their latest version of MoviePlus, MoviePlus X3. Like Serif’s other products, this application is user friendly and easy to use, providing excellent results at a fraction of the price of the “big boys” software applications.
The user interface has been completely redesigned, although to me it was reminiscent of Corel’s VideoStudio®. It now offers automated ”How To” guides with step by step instructions on just about every topic. The “import from device” wizard makes transferring files a breeze.
Some of MoviePlus’ new features include a storyboard mode, new animations and other special effects, better audio adjustments and broad compatibility to import and export in a wide range of formats and it is even optimized for YouTube uploads. It can also create files for the iPod® and PSP®. One of my favorite special effects is the ability to take a video and convert it into footage that looks like old-time movies.
Editing your video couldn’t be easier, with simple drag and drop of images and video clips, along with real time previews. Users can also switch back and forth between Storyboard and Timeline with little effort.
MoviePlus X3 joins the growing list of affordable and powerful digital video editing programs that are giving products like Final Cut Pro® a run for their money. Compared to their pricing, MoviePlus X3 beats the more expensive applications hands down.

For the low price, acceptable system requirements, and ease of use, MoviePlus X3 is hard to beat. With the holidays coming up, this would be the perfect gift for the aspiring videographer, or the person who simply films without making any attempt to edit the results. A program this easy to use will surely encourage them to make better films.
