It sounds simple enough - take some inputs, cull out the 80% that isn’t good, mix the 20% in your digital editing software, burn a disc and pop it into a player to view with accolades from family and friends over popcorn and pop… or pizza and beer.
The bright side of this picture starts with your vision of the video you want to produce… and then steps back to figure out what you need to do to achieve it. Gather content, setup and use hardware, select and install software, build a library of special effects, make your videos or movies, package them on DVDs and upload to online hosts.
Your vision or goals might change from time to time. You are the anchor, the key to achieving whatever it is you’re striving for. Other important things include your personal computer and video skills, setting up and maintaining your computer, selecting and adding software, and getting help when needed. Video editing is often a solitary activity. You are the best one to judge how well you’re doing. Between bursts of inspiration and activity, come back to this channel to read about what others are doing.
Then there’s what I call the dark side, things that will challenge at best, frustrate, or even preclude success. There are bewildering hardware and software choices to make, codec hell to walk through, file conversions, buggy software to resolve or work-around, your insufficient user skills, and legal and administrative matters regarding copyrights and permissions.
We’re here to help, by providing channel content you need or want, to share everything we know and learn about planning and doing digital video projects. Read, suggest articles, comment about blogs, ask questions… participate to the degree you wish. Come back often as content will be changing daily.
If you have knowledge and experiences to share, and want to take a fling at writing some articles for this channel, you’re welcome.
