... to YOUR digital video channel at Bright Hub

It might have my name, but it’s really a channel about you and the things you want to do with digital video. It’s here to help you define your goals, develop your skills, and avoid the pitfalls that can stop you from achieving results. The concept of digital video is easy to understand… take some inputs, mix them a bit by editing, burn a disc and pop the DVD in a player to view with accolades from your family and friends over pizza, popcorn, beer and pop.

On the bright side is your vision of what video things you want to do… To achieve them you’ll gather content, setup and use hardware, select and install software, collect a toolbox of special effects, make your videos or movies, package them on DVDs, and upload to online hosts.

Your vision or goals might change from time to time, but you are the anchor, the key to achieving whatever it is you’re currently striving to do. Things in this area are your current and growing computer and video skills, setting up and maintaining your computer, selecting and adding software, learning to do things easier, and getting help when needed. Video editing is often a solitary, as is lots of artistic endeavors. Your personal growth will be the key to your success.

Then there’s what I call the dark side, things that will challenge at best, frustrate, or even preclude success. There are bewildering hardware and software choices to make, codec hell to walk through, file conversions to do, buggy software to resolve or work-around, your inadequate user skills to enhance, and legal matters such as copyrights and permissions

I’ll be here to help by providing channel content you need or want, to share everything I know about planning, making and distributing digital video. Read, suggest articles, comment about blogs, ask questions… participate to whatever degree you wish. Come back often as content will change daily.
