With the unstoppable rise of video sharing, promoting a business or product has never been so simple. So you have a great product or service that you want to inform people about. What’s your first step?

Features

First, catalog the features of your product /service. What makes it stand out above the rest? This will be your tool to get the audience to focus and listen.

Approach

Advertising executives are successful because they have a smooth approach. They know their audience and what their audience wants and they give it to them. You can apply the same approach - just find your target audience.

Finding Your Audience

Who will most benefit from your product or service? Where do they frequently go online? What’s the best way to reach them?

In order for you to connect with your audience you have to know them as a collective. How they communicate their wants. Find out which sites the people you are trying to reach frequently visit. Also how do the people you want to advertise to speak. If you’re speaking to a group of urban teens about the newest fad in clothing, leave out Iambic Pentameter.

Filming

Finally, you have all the necessary research completed. You have a good product, and you know your audience and how you can communicate to them. Now is the time for creativity. You’ll still have to keep the audience in mind while filming. Once you have a few takes on your video capture software, you’ll have to play back and see how well the take went. After filming you can edit the footage as you like and begin the uploading process.

Uploading

You’ve already researched the sites that your audience most frequents. Most social sites like myspace let you post videos. Usually most target audiences can be found and categorized on social sites by interest. Also some sites have whole groups that you have email lists that you can send your video to. Some sites will require permission before you can post videos.

Final suggestions

1.) Keep the background as simple and professional as possible.

2.) Keep the background music low or off so as not to take away from the overall presentation.

3.) Remember your audience!
