How to Make Business Cards with Microsoft PowerPoint
Microsoft PowerPoint is a tool you can use to create business cards which are essential to promoting yourself and your business. The amount of time, effort, and money you want to put into creating the card that is right for you is completely up to you. Personally, I found PowerPoint more involved and time consuming than using Word (refer to my article at https://www.brighthub.com/multimedia/publishing/articles/1595.aspx) or simply downloading free templates (refer to https://www.brighthub.com/multimedia/publishing/articles/1055.aspx.) to accomplish this job. It didn’t ever even occur to me that one would use PowerPoint for a task like this and unless you’re really familiar and fond of PowerPoint, I wouldn’t recommend it for creating business cards. I had to take a little time to become familiar with the tabs and functions myself. Incidentally, I sometimes find that when I ask the Microsoft Help function for a glass of water it gives me an ocean.
However, there is a certain amount of creativity that PowerPoint uniquely affords that you might find appealing. Here are the basic steps which anyone accustomed to PowerPoint will probably find a breeze.
o On the View tab, in the Show/Hide group, select the Ruler check box.
o Click the Rectangle in Drawing toolbar.
o Draw a standard 2” x 3.5” box.
o Then use Format tab to set Fill to none and Line to black.
o Insert Text and Images.
o Zoom in on the page and edit.
o Print.
You can also download business card templates to work with in PowerPoint. I found the easiest place to do this is to actually go to the same source for all Microsoft Office products at https://office.microsoft.com/en-us/templates/default.aspx. Once I downloaded a template I liked, it wasn’t exactly a seamless process to get that template into PowerPoint but then gain I have not worked with PowerPoint all that much in the past. Once I was able to get the downloaded templates into PowerPoint the process of manufacturing cards wasn’t difficult.
