Do you have some spots or dust on your camera lenses or sensor? Find out of the Giottos Rocket Blower can live up to its name and clean it out!
Introduction
If you have had your digital SLR for some time and you have more than one lens, you are bound to get dust on your sensor. This will be noticeable on your pictures at smaller apertures (bigger F numbers) and solid colors like a white wall or a blue sky. The dust will appear as black specs and show up in the same spot in all your photos. These dust spots are quite distracting and can easily be fixed at the source (instead of cloning it out every time). In addition to cleaning the sensor, the blower is handy for blowing out dust on lenses and filters in the field and at home.
Ease of Use

The Rocket Blaster is very easy to use. Simply set your camera to the “sensor cleaning mode,” place the camera on a tripod pointing down, remove the lens, and give a couple swift blows onto the sensor. Do not place the nozzle tip into the camera. In a few quick compresses, all of the dust should come off the sensor. The camera is pointed downwards so that gravity prevents dust from falling back on the sensor.

Performance
Rating
In most cases, a few bursts of air should do the trick in eliminating any dust on your sensor. Sometimes, there are stubborn pieces that will not budge and you will have to get your sensor cleaned by either yourself or someone who knows what they are doing.
The design of the blower is well thought out and functions well. The nozzle allows a high pressure burst of air to come out with a single squeeze. The fins allow the blower to stand upright on a table and the intake hole on the bottom is consequently raised from the surface as to avoid attracting dust into the blower. It is also small enough to throw in your photo bag or backpack for longer trips.
Value and Conclusion

This is one of the must-have cleaning tools for every photographer even if you do not have an SLR. At an average price of $12 shipped, it may seem a little pricey, but the fact is, it is the best at what it does. It’s perfect for lenses, filters, and sensors of all types and sizes. Other blowers do not expel as much air and will not do as good of a job. The other two cleaning tools I would recommend are a microfiber cleaning cloth and a Lens Pen for your lenses and filters.
