Want to share your photos with friends and family, but don't want to clog their inboxes? Try Scrapblog. This free service allows you to create albums and share them with others.

Scrapblog's Pros and Cons

You want to share your digital photographs with your family, but, unfortunately, you live in Portland, and they're in Atlanta. Scrapblog [See Image 1 and 2] is a free service to share your pictures.

This easy-to-use service allows you to upload your photos and make individual albums. You have two ways to make an album. You can either use one of many pre-established formats for everything from weddings to Europe vacations. Or, you can start from a blank page and create your own background.

There are many options to glam up your pages. You can put frames around your pictures or add stickers to the pages just like you would in a real scrapbook. There is even an option to upload video.

You can decide whether or not you would like your pages set to private (only available to those who you would like to have access to them) or public (available to anybody). This is a nice feature, especially nowadays with all the privacy issues.

There are a few drawbacks to this service. The graphics are not the greatest. When I was trying to find frames for my pictures, I realized that the selection was minimal. Finding a pre-defined background that could be used for any occasion took a little while. Most seemed centered around specific events like birthdays or weddings.

The software automatically creates a Web address specific to you album that you can send to others. This way you don't have to download and try to send a whole file, which could take a while for others to download. It also creates a link that you can embed in your blog.

Even the travel-specific backgrounds got a little too specific. I didn't want to use a European vacation background for my trip to Santa Fe.

But despite these minor quibbles, this would be a perfect free software to use to share your pictures with loved ones. Plus, children will love the sticker feature. There are a lot of fun shapes that they can paste anyway and move around.

Overall, this is a fun program and a easy way to make an online scrapbook that you will easily be able to share with others.
