So far, we’ve learned how to transfer photos from one computer to another using email and flash drives. This article will focus on how to use the Internet to upload your photos to an online photo sharing website to transfer your digital photographs.

Uploading Your Photos to a Photo Sharing Website

One way to transfer your digital photos from one computer to another is by using a photo sharing website. There is an abundance of sites out there which offer their services for free.

The steps you will need to follow to upload will depend on which website you have decided to use, so I cannot give direct step-by-step instructions. However, the idea is the same: you register and create an account online, upload your photos and then you can access them from any computer with an Internet connection just by visiting the site and signing in. Their help files or technical support should be able to provide you with detailed instructions on how to upload your photos to their website. Once your photos are uploaded, you can then download them onto your new computer.

If you don’t want the world to see your photos while they are in transit from one computer to the other, many photo sharing websites offer privacy controls. You can determine who can view and upload your photos and you can protect them with a password. A lot of these sites also allow you to upload videos as well as your digital photos.
