TimeRule is a useful app for Windows Mobile Pocket PC that allows you to display and control important events on the Today screen of your device. Keep reading to learn more about the inner workings of the program and its main features.

Overview

While following a busy schedule, we sometimes miss the most important events like loan pay-off dates, an important flight, service date for your car etc. Wouldn’t it be helpful if you could view and control these important events on the home screen of your Windows Mobile Pocket PC? TimeRule is a small application that lets you display 15 simultaneously controlled events on your Today screen so that you can keep track and count time of event occurrence.

TimeRule is developed by MegaSoft2000 and can be purchased from Handango website for $9.99. The developers also provide a fully functional trial version that can be downloaded by clicking here.

The program is compatible with all Pocket PCs running on WM 2002, WM 2003 SE and WM 5.0 platforms. Before buying the final product, I request that my readers test the free version and also check whether their device is compatible or not.

Examining TimeRule App

I installed the application easily on my Pocket PC by using Microsoft ActiveSync. After completing the installation I opened the app by tapping on Start Menu → Programs → TimeRule which guided me to its main screen that displays a primary list of all events. The application can also be accessed directly from the Today screen by tapping on the programs icon.

Main Screen

Initially the main screen was empty and I could add a new event by selecting the proper category and tapping on the ‘New item’ tab.

This further directed me to a new window where I could define the tab name and the phrase that I wanted to be displayed on the today screen so that I could easily recognize this event.

Configuring a New Entry

Here I could also choose the icon that will represent this event and I was able to define the time and date from which or up to which the time of this event will be calculated. Then I moved to the ‘Time Format’ options and selected the custom option to set my own time units for this event that would be displayed on the screen.

The calendar icon placed at the bottom of the screen allowed me to export this entry to pocket Outlook calendar app.

Viewing Options

Finally, I tapped on the ‘View’ tab to configure the viewing options. Here I could see the preview of the created entry and could also select the style, date format and date alignment. Tapping on the ‘Show all list’ displayed the entire list of my created entries on the today screen and tapping on the ‘Limit up to’ tab allowed me to select the number of entries I wanted to display.

Final Verdict

TimeRule is the most convenient way to count and keep track of time for an important event. The application has an uncomplicated and user-friendly interface, allowing you to easily configure the settings according to your convenience.

The created entries on the today screen are also prominent enough and cannot be missed even if you are being careless.

Also, the application is fairly priced at $9.99 and will come in extremely handy for business users who don't want to miss an important event while following their tight schedules.
