Overview
There is no doubt that all latest Smartphone models include caller identification and are capable of detecting the name and phone number of callers already saved on the phonebook. But, is it possible to detect an incoming call from an unknown number? Privus Mobile Caller ID is an innovative caller identification application that allows you to identify the name and number of the caller even if it is not saved on your phonebook. The app even lets you know the location from where they are calling and also detects the device from which the call has been made.
Privus Mobile Caller ID is developed by Privus Mobile and a one month subscription for this software can be purchased for $5.95. The developers also provide a 10-days trial version that can be downloaded by clicking on this link here after providing some basic information. The program is compatible with Android, Blackberry, iPhone, Symbian and Windows Mobile platforms.
Examining Privus Mobile Caller ID
Normally whenever I have received a call from a contact that is not saved in my phonebook, I would just see a number flashing on my screen without the caller's name. Privus Mobile Caller ID has a huge database of phone numbers and contacts and many of the latest phone models and phone carriers already support this application. After installing the app on my device, this huge database of phone numbers was transferred to my system, making it possible to identify almost any unknown number.
If you have subscribed to a phone carrier that does not support this application then you probably won’t see the contact's name on your screen while receiving a call. But as soon as the call is finished or after you have had a missed call on your device you will receive this information. If you have an Internet connection on your device or if you are connected to a Wi-Fi hotspot, the probability of getting the contacts name increases. While installing the trial version on my device, I was asked to provide my name, country of residence and carrier or service provider I had subscribed to.
After I had done that I was asked to select my device model from a list of all the supported mobile phones. Then I had to provide my name, mobile number and e-mail address before I could download the setup file. Since I was using a supported service provider, now whenever I received an unknown call, I could see the name of the contact on my screen. This was a huge help because now I could easily detect an unknown call, saving me from attending unnecessary or unwanted calls.
Final Verdict
Privus Mobile Caller ID is a brilliant and innovative idea is being successfully used in the U.S., Canada and some European countries. But it's not a global application because it does not support phone carriers from other regions and countries.
I didn't face any major problem while installing the application on my device. Unfortunately, quite a few times it failed to recognize a phone number and I couldn't see the name of the contact on my screen and I received this information after I had hung up. This raises a huge question mark on the credibility of this app and I think there is no need to know the identity of the caller at this stage.
The price tag of $5.95 for a one month subscription is also quite reasonable. If the application is able to detect half of the unknown incoming calls, I think it would be great value for money.
Since this concept is still under development and we will be seeing more modified versions in the coming days, I recommend my readers download and test the trial version before buying the final product.
