SFR Password blocks all unauthorized access to your device by allowing you to assign a unique picture password. Now whenever you restart your device or want to access it, the app asks for that picture password and you have to tap on the assigned pictures in correct order to open your Pocket PC. The picture password is not only easy to remember but also provides the highest possible level of security.
Among other features, the app also allows you to input a password with a pen or your finger without using the keyboard. For people who are more comfortable using text passwords, the app also allows the user to assign a text password. To make things easier, the program allows you to view date, time, battery status, owner information, missed calls, received messages and even next appointment without entering the password.
SFR Password is developed by SFR Software and can be purchased from their website for $24.26 after providing some personal information. The developers also avail a trial version on their website that can be downloaded by clicking here.
The app is compatible with all Pocket PCs operating on Windows Mobile 5.0, 6.0, 6.1 and 6.5 platforms. After connecting my device to a desktop computer, I used Microsoft ActiveSync to run the downloaded setup file that further installed the app on my device.
After installation I started the application by tapping on Start Menu → Settings → Personal → Passwords → SFR Passwords which directed me to a main window with ‘Define Password’ and ‘Settings’ tabs. Selecting the ‘Define Password’ option directed me to a new window where I was asked whether I wanted to assign a picture password or PIN password or a text password.
Initially, I selected the picture password option and tapped on the ‘Continue’ button to enter a new screen where I was asked to select the picture I wanted to assign as a password.
After selecting a picture, I tapped on the ‘Continue’ button which further guided me to picture password settings window where I could select the cell size of my picture password and also enable/disable optical and acoustical feedback.
I also enabled the ‘Show cell on screen tap’ option to draw a circular shape for each spot on the screen where I touched with my stylus. Here I could also enable a tapping sound with each tap, I then tapped on the ‘Continue’ button again to go to the next screen where I could define my picture password by tapping on several spots of the picture I had selected. The application allows you to define up to 16 spots. Next, I was asked to verify my password and I tapped again on the same spots and in the same order as I had done before to verify my password. Then I tapped on the ‘Confirm password’ tab to set this password and then navigated back to the main window.

Assigning a text password is much easier and you just have to select the ‘text password’ option in the main window that will guide you to the next screen where you can define and then verify your text password. I could also assign a PIN password in similar manner by using the numerical keys on the virtual keypad provided on the screen.
Finally, all program options can be easily configured by tapping on the ‘Setting’ tab on the main screen. Here you can configure options like effects, style colors, language, fast login, lock device timeout, show last missed call, show last message, show next appointment and show owner information.
Being a techno enthusiast, I have seen and reviewed many password protection applications for Windows Mobile Pocket PC but nothing beats SFR Password when it comes to innovation, security and perfection.
The application has a beautiful interface and is quite easy to use. However the price of $24.26 might be a little discomforting for budget users but I guess you have to pay this price if you want the best password protection tool for your Windows Mobile Pocket PC.
Overall, this is the most promising, highly secure and modern password application money can buy and I highly recommend it to all my readers.
