With PRPDates you will never miss an important meeting or a loved one’s birthday or anniversary. The program keeps you updated in advance about upcoming events like holidays, birthdays, anniversaries and much more, making it extremely easy while planning your future schedules. It also has a built-in categorized database of all the holidays from 2006 to 2015 for more than 70 countries. The program even allows you to modify and add new categories according to your own needs so that you can easily recognize any entry. The program then allows you to export these entries to the built-in task and calendar app on your Windows Mobile Pocket PC.
PRPDates is developed by 3GR Technologies and can be purchased from their website for $9.99 after providing some basic information. The developers also provide a trial version that can be downloaded here after entering your name and e-mail address.
The program is compatible with all Pocket PCs operating on Windows Mobile 2002, 2003, 5x and 6x platforms and you can check your device compatibility from the description page. The application can also be easily installed on your device by using Microsoft ActiveSync.
After installing the app on my Pocket PC, I opened it by tapping on Start Menu → Program → PRPDates which guided me to its main screen that displays a list of all the holidays sorted according to date, region and religion.
There is a white category list drop-down category menu on the top right of the screen and tapping on this tab displays all the categories such as anniversary, birthday, business, entertainment, friends, holiday and much more. Selecting any of the following categories will then arrange the list accordingly and you can remove any entry from the list by tapping on the ‘Remove’ button.
I could also select any entry from the lists by marking on the checkboxes in front of each entry and I was able to export the selected entries to the calendar app by tapping on the ‘Set’ button. The ‘New’ tab allowed me to add a new entry and tapping on the ‘Menu’ tab placed at the bottom of the screen displayed all the available options to configure the app.
The ‘Holiday’ category is built-in and the app is further divided into two subcategories ‘Religion’ and ‘Country’. Selecting any of these subcategories will display a list of all the religions and countries in the apps database and I could select either one of these to modify the list accordingly.
Finally I could edit and add a new entry by tapping on the ‘Edit’ button from menu options and ‘New’ button on main screen respectively and also add an alarm that would notify me about a certain upcoming event. Tapping on the ‘Done’ button in any of these windows saved my settings and after the configuration process was over and I finally tapped on the ‘Done’ button and came out of the app.
PRPDates comes in extremely handy if you want to know in advance about any upcoming important event or holiday. It provides access to a properly sorted list of holidays and events according to region or religion and you can choose any entry and modify it according to your convenience.
But most of all, I appreciated the programs ability to associate alarms with these entries so that I could get an advance notification of any upcoming event. Also the application is quite reasonably priced at $9.99, considering the usability and loads of features it has to offer.
While using the application for several days, I came to the conclusion that it was quite useful with a simple and easy to use interface. It's definitely a must have tool for all business users who need to stay in touch with upcoming holidays so that they can set their schedules accordingly.
