Fighter is a Chinese videogame for Windows Mobile - choose your futuristic fighter craft, and take the challenge, blasting your way through landscapes, defeating enemy craft and picking up very cool powerups!
Fighter - Traditional Arcade Shooter
Fighter is a new game that brings all the classic arcade shooter fun of futuristic craft, weapons upgrades, end of level boss monsters and leaderboards to the Windows Mobile platform - and it's been designed so that owners of motion sensitive devices with g-sensors or accelerometers can control their ship without touching the screen!
Utilising different handset movements, your craft in Fighter will move around the screen, disperse primary and secondary weapons and if you become particularly skillful pick up all of the stars and powerups left behind be destroyed opponents.

System Requirements
Available via FreewarePocketPC.net, Fighter is 7.6 MB and is best downloaded to your PC. The file downloads in .RAR format, so will need uncompressing and the resulting folder copying to your Windows Mobile device.
From here, browsing to the folder and running the file fighter.exe launches the game.
Designed mainly for VGA touchscreen devices running Windows Mobile 5 and later, Fighter runs perfectly on Windows Mobile 6.5 with a WVGA screen.
Due to the game being designed for Chinese users, you'll possibly also require knowledge of the language - but don't worry too much about this as the menu is easily navigable!
Motion Sensitivity
There are four main gestures to controlling Fighter, detailed on the pre-game screen. Moving left and right requires you to tilt your Windows Mobile device left or right; moving back and forth up and down the screen requires you to push your device away and back towards you.
Shooting meanwhile involves tilting your phone back and forth. It's sensible gesture interaction, nothing to complicated, nothing to make you take your eye off the screeen and get blown up.
Crucially the motion-sensitive level of interaction can be replaced with standard D-pad or stylus control, meaning that there's no modern Windows Mobile device that would be unable to run the game.

| Conventional Arcade Shooter | Rating |
Fighter is a great game, superbly designed and with great graphics. Although tailored for accelerometer/motion sensitive devices, it also works via D-Pad and stylus, which is a great bonus.
Obviously the Chinese language element is a problem. However the game menu follows the usual conventions of such as arcade game, and as such, thanks to a useful "back" button in the lower right of the screen it's straightforward to work out what each screen does.
This might be off-putting however, and the lack of any English language elements (until the Game Over screen and scoreboard entry screen) are the single reason why Fighter doesn't score 5/5.
