The Apps for Entertainment
Ever been stuck on a long train journey, bored in the office or just waiting for someone in a café? We all have. Five years ago you would have been bored out of your mind – not daring to take out a GameBoy in the fear of getting odd looks from your more sophisticated fellow passengers, co-workers or the other customers in the café. Below is a list of the top five entertainment apps available for your Windows Mobile device. Have Fun!
| Guitar Hero III | Rating |
Guitar Hero Mobile is a cool little game that I play on a regular basis when bored out of my mind. It’ll never replace the various other versions available on the DS or Consoles but it’s really good for a handheld. It costs $14.99 for the whole version or $3.99 per monthly subscription where you unlock three new songs every month. There are all the normal features like achievements and ‘Star Power’ to drive the crowd wild. I found it fun in short bursts.
| NetFlix Mobile | Rating |
Netflix Mobile is a good application when you have twenty minutes to spare. You can’t watch films right there on you mobile I’m afraid. However, an exclusive feature to Windows Mobile users on this app is that you can watch the previews of the films. You can then change you DVD list and order films on you Netflix account to be watched on your XBOX 360. Good for getting you entertainment needs in order for when you finally get home!
| Newsbreak Lite | Rating |
Let's say you don’t want every thing the internet has to offer on you mobile. Maybe you just want to be kept up to date on what’s happening in the world around you. Newsbreak Lite will grab the latest headlines that you’re interested in hearing about. You can scan them and then click the ones that catch your eye. Simple and entertaining.
| Viigo | Rating |
Viigo is this app that is incredibly simple and successful because it combines what everyone wants. It has your RSS feeds like news, sport, films, entertainment and weather. It will also let you check the status of flights and use Twitter in an instant. One thing that I really liked about this app is that it will organize your podcasts and download them for you. This I found very helpful as I hate downloading them on my laptop then sending them to my phone!
| Worldwide Sports TV | Rating |
This one is a little pricy at almost $35 but I guess it has to be because of what it offers. Basically, it lets you stream live sports to you're Windows device while you’re on the go. From discussing the app with fellow users I discovered that the streaming speed can be sketchy so this one is only for those who have a good service provider with 3G data access or if you have access to WiFi. You’ll never miss the big game again with this cool app.
