If you want to personalize a Windows Mobile Smartphone or Pocket PC you can start by adding contact pictures and contact ringtones to your device. This is a great way to realize who's calling without looking at your device, or to show off your favorite picture from the caller. Here's a simple guide.
Adding a picture is a great way to personalize each callers incoming emails, text messages and phone calls. Here's the simple process for adding pictures to Windows Mobile Contacts.
1. Press the Windows Mobile Start Button and then choose Contacts or simply navigate to your Contacts screen using your favorite routine.
2. Find the contact you want to add a picture to. Click on Menu and then Edit.
3. Scroll down to the picture field and then from there click on the Select A Picture option.
4. A screen will now appear displaying all of the pictures stored on your device. Find the picture you want to use and tap on that picture, or for non-touchscreen devices click on the "Ok" option or the middle of your d-pad.

Your contacts chosen picture will not display with incoming calls and messages.
The process for adding Ringtones begins in the same manner as adding pictures to a contact.

3. Click on Menu and then choose Edit.
4. Scroll down to the "ringtone field" and then choose the ringtone you want to use for that contact.
5. Click OK.

The steps I outlines above are simple actions that you can take from the moment you start using your Windows Mobile Pocket PC or Smartphone. In many cases you may want a more robust solution that can better manage your Ringtones. For example you could try the Ringo Ringtone Manager or various other free and paid applications for Windows Mobile devices.
Remember that any pictures of music files saved on your device take memory, if you choose to use different ringtones for different users and the files are stores on your phones internal memory it can lead to a quick storage drain on your device.
