In this review I will be looking at SPB Geogame - A game for your Windows Mobile Professional phone that tests your knowledge about the world

Introduction

Have you ever had trouble recognizing a country's national flag during sports events? Do you have problems remembering the names of their capital? SPB Software's Geogame will help you learn about the world's capitals and national flag in a fun and entertaining way. The game is optimized for finger based control and works only on Windows Mobile Professional 6.1 phones, so those who have phones without a touchscreen will not be able to play this game.

Main Interface

Main InterfaceThe main interface of the game allows you to choose between two game modes, one is for testing your skill in remembering capitals and the other is for national flags. The high score and player name are displayed against each game mode.

The interface is optimized for touch conrol and shows the refinement which can be found in SPB's software's other applications such as Mobile Shell 3.0.

Capitals

Options To test your knowledge on capitals, the game presents a multiple choice question. You must match the country name with its capital or vice versa. Four buttons are displayed as the options, you must touch the correct button to choose your answer. A wrong answer will disable that option until you select the correct option. Upon choosing the correct answer, you will be taken to an animated globe which wlll indicate the location of that country.

A time limit for the game is displayed under each question. The maximum correct answers in a minute are used to calculate your high score.

Flags

Flags gameFor testing your knowledge on flags, the game plays out exactly like it does for capitals. You are presented with the country or flag name and must match it to its correct answer. Choosing the correct answer will show you the country's location on the globe.

Conclusion

Overall the game combines entertainment and education and if you play the game long enough, it does improve your knowledge about capitals and flags. It has an interface that has been perfected by SPB for finger based navigation and the user interface is simple and easy to use. The animated 3D globe succeeds in conveying a country's location.

The game is priced at a reasonable 4.95 USD. It's a good game to pass some time with while learning about the world. You can download and evaluate a 14 day trial of the game from here.
